During the second UNISEC-Global Meeting, which was held on November 18-20 Lithuania officially became the member of UNISEC. “Joining the UNISEC network not only opens broader possibilities for Lithuania to participate in international space field, but also it will encourage students be more creative, interested in space technologies“ – said VGTU AGAI director Jonas Stankūnas.
Lithuania's Economy Minister Evaldas Gustas has signed an agreement of a European Cooperating States with the European Space Agency in Paris. Signed with ESA Director General Jean-Jacque Dordain, the agreement will allow Lithuanian businesses and scientists to participate in the top-level international network of science, technologies and innovations.
The final of the competition was held in Molėtai air field on October 18 th, There totaly were eight teams: three CS and five UAV.
All of the teames accomplished the main rewuirements: CS cannot be heavier than 360 grammes, BPO - 5 kilo. All the instructions must be created by the team members.
In late 2013, the first Lithuanian satellites Lituanica SAT-1 and LitSat-1 were launched into space. The creators of the satellites dedicate their missions to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the flight of the legendary pilots S. Darius and S. Girėnas across the Atlantic Ocean. This historical event will open the possibilities for space experiments and promote the development of high technologies in Lithuania.
